Create a productive workspace, even at home
During these unprecedented times there are a lot of new things we need to adjust to. We want to provide help where we can to make the transition that bit easier as more and more of us now are asked to work from home. Here are some tips that the team found useful when working from home.
1. Get up and make your bed first thing in the morning
Whether you're working from home or in the office it's always recommended to make your bed first thing in the morning. Experts say that making your bed mentally sets you on the right path to continue to complete tasks as they arise throughout the day. Not only that, if you are working from home a clean space also helps to clear your mind.
2. Create a dedicated workspace
To make sure your home life doesn't blur with your work life it's best to create a dedicated workspace. If you don't have a spare room, you can create an area in the corner of your dining or lounge room. Many studies have highlighted the importance of separating your workspace from your sleep space, so try to do this if possible.
3. Keep to your work schedule
Working from home means you will gain some time you would usually lose during your commute. Don't use this as an excuse to get up later, instead get up at the same time and do something for your mental and physical health. This could be meditating, doing an in-door exercise routine or reading a book. Also try to stick to your work lunch time and finish time. When you work from home it's very easy to go off schedule and then try to make it up by working later. This leads you down an unproductive work spiral, so stick to your schedule and stay productive.
4. Get the gadgets you need to increase productivity
When working from home it's important to have the right equipment.
Get on conference calls with a pair of ergonomic headphones with an excellent in-line mic like Avanti.
Charge your Qi wireless compatible phone or AirPods rapidly while adding a touch of style to your desk with Otto Q.
Taking a break away from your office space? Stay charged and be ready while on the couch or in the kitchen for incoming calls from the team with our 3m Lightning cable.
Many of the newer laptops are missing many of the essential ports. Symbus offers an all-in-one solution to hook up your laptop to an HDMI monitor, wired internet, and USB peripherals such as a hard drive, keyboard, or mouse.
Working from home takes some time to adjust to, but hopefully equipped with these helpful tips you'll find your rhythm and productivity in no time.
